Card with World Map dies in Pretty Peacock and Old Olive

Design Inspiration for this Beautiful World Card

Do you ever start creating with an idea, and the end result is nothing like that idea? That’s the joy and frustration of design inspiration, and it’s the origin of this card. I wanted to make a card using the two globes in the Beautiful World stamp set. Looking through Pinterest, I saw a graphic of two old world maps, side by side. That was my starting point, and I would give my card an old world look.

Case the Catalog with the Stampin' Up! Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch

Casing the Catalog with the Postage Stamp Punch

I really like the card featuring the Posted for You bundle on page 81 of the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I thought it would be a fun card for a class, too, so I could show how to change sizes with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch. But I usually make a few changes when I case a card, and this time I changed everything but the layout! (btw, CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything)

Card using Stampin' Up! Rooted in Nature with Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch

For starters, I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set. I love the Postage Stamp Punch and you can use it with so much more than its companion stamp set. I also wanted to do an autumn card for my September class.

Since I haven’t used Terracotta Tile much this fall, I started with that color, then picked the images and colors. You’ll notice I used the triple-leaf image twice. I used the Bumblebee marker to color and stamp two leaves for one postage stamp, then I stamped the full image for another postage stamp.

The other colors are Bermuda Bay, Cinnamon Cider and Pretty Peacock. All the images are stamped on Very Vanilla, and the card base is the Very Vanilla Thick cardstock.

Card featuring the In Color Purple Posy, using Butterfly Gala stamp set

The 2019 In Colors: Purple Posy

Purple Posy is the fifth of the five 2019-2021 In Colors. It’s a very light, soft color. If you are a fan of purples, this is the perfect addition to your color palette because it works so well with darker purples.

Once again I’ve gone to the Woven Threads designer series paper, not only for the color but for the design inspiration. Purple Posy is mixed in to several of the patterns on this paper package, but on this sheet it takes center stage. The square pattern is in Pretty Peacock, which at first glance may seem an odd pair, but it works.

sailboat birthday card featuring the color Pretty Peacock

The 2019 In Colors: Pretty Peacock

Today’s card features Pretty Peacock, a nice warm blue-green color. We’ve had colors in this range before and I think they play well with others, which makes it a good versatile color to have. I’ve used a paper from the Woven Threads designer series papers that’s all Pretty Peacock for the background. The pattern gives it a nice texture that’s not too busy.

This is a masculine birthday card, featuring one of the sail boats from the Sailing Home stamp set. I stamped it in Memento black ink and colored it with three Stampin’ Markers: Pretty Peacock, Crushed Curry and Gray Granite. I also used the Pretty Peacock marker to color one bird from the three seagulls stamp.
