Two cards from www.VintageandFresh.com using the 2022-2024 In Colors from Stampin' Up!

Playing with the 2022-2024 In Colors

I’ve been having fun making a few sampler cards with the new 2022-2024 In Colors from Stampin’ Up! These colors just make me happy, they are so bright and pretty! And they play well together. For these two cards, I featured the In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP). I like to make a few cards with all five colors together, and this is a great way to do that.

My first card is a great card sketch for using DSP scraps. Although I did cut these at 1″ x 4″ to start. This card is also a good way to introduce the 2022-2024 In Color names. From left to right: Sweet Sorbet, Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party and Starry Sky.

I chose Gray Granite for my card base and also cut a card front at 4″ x 5-1/4″ in the same color. I started by playing around with the strips until I found a color combination and a pattern combination that I liked. Then I cut the ends at different angles and slightly different lengths. After gluing them in place, I wrapped the front piece with the Tahitian Tide baker’s twine.

Harvest Hellos card with an apple punched from Ornate Gardens DSP

A Simple Thank You Card

Recently, I borrowed my friend’s Harvest Hellos stamp set and Apple Builder Punch. Its a bundle I almost bought when it premiered in a Holiday catalog, then it carried over to the Annual catalog…and I still haven’t gotten it. So thank you, Julie.

I used the stamps and punch for one of my October Monthly Stamp Class projects, which you can see on my Instagram account.

Those cards were made by stamping the apple or the pumpkin on paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Collection. Stamping on DSP is a simple thing we often forget about, but it can be a great alternative to coloring. While scrolling through Pinterest, I saw the apple stamp punched from the plaid of the Toile Tiding DSP (by Patty Bennett).

Love the plaid, so I borrowed that idea and made this simple thank you card.

But I didn’t stop there! I stamped a red toile apple from the same DSP, another from the Ornate Garden DSP, and a green apple from the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP.

Case the Catalog with the Stampin' Up! Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch

Casing the Catalog with the Postage Stamp Punch

I really like the card featuring the Posted for You bundle on page 81 of the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I thought it would be a fun card for a class, too, so I could show how to change sizes with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch. But I usually make a few changes when I case a card, and this time I changed everything but the layout! (btw, CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything)

Card using Stampin' Up! Rooted in Nature with Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch

For starters, I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set. I love the Postage Stamp Punch and you can use it with so much more than its companion stamp set. I also wanted to do an autumn card for my September class.

Since I haven’t used Terracotta Tile much this fall, I started with that color, then picked the images and colors. You’ll notice I used the triple-leaf image twice. I used the Bumblebee marker to color and stamp two leaves for one postage stamp, then I stamped the full image for another postage stamp.

The other colors are Bermuda Bay, Cinnamon Cider and Pretty Peacock. All the images are stamped on Very Vanilla, and the card base is the Very Vanilla Thick cardstock.

Detail of accents added to stepped up version of card design using Rooted in Nature by Stampin' Up!

Simple Tips to Step Up Your Card Design

Sometimes, all you want is a clean and simple card design. And sometimes you want to step up your design. Here are a few simple tips to do just that.

This is a clean and simple card design that I made for an open house event. The tree is from the Rooted in Nature stamp set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Whisper White card stock. I lightly edged the card stock with ink, rather than add a mat. Do this by lightly swiping the edge of the paper across the ink pad. (Rooted in Nature is one of my favorite sets from the Annual Catalog. Here’s another card with this set.)

The card base is Grapefruit Grove. Both colors were chosen to match the piece of Nature’s Poem designer series paper, which is also lightly edged in ink. As an added touch, I added a twine knot. It’s a simple square knot. The piece is adhered to the card front with stampin’ dimensionals. It’s a simple design with unusual colors to draw interest.

Now, here is the stepped up version of this card.

Spooky Bats Specimen Display card using Stampin' Up! Spooky Bats Punch and DSP, by Paula Cannon.

A Spooky Bats Specimen Display

Real life bats can be spooky, but paper bats can be fun. Especially when they are so easy to make with the Spooky Sweets stamp set and Spooky Bats punch. Bats are a Halloween staple, so a bat punch is a good item for your craft stash.

My spooky bats specimen display is a little different than bats flying through the sky.
