Two Vintage Teapot Cards
June 7, 2019|Posted in: Creativity
It’s easy to get the look of a vintage teapot using the right designer series paper and the Tea Together stamp set and Tea Time dies. This teapot is such a fun image and you can get so many looks when you use designer series paper. Of course, you can stamp and color the teapot, but we’ll save that for another post.
The paper you select will have a big impact on the look of the teapot. Bright colors will be bold, whereas Subtles colors will be more demur. Fine prints can be dainty. You get the idea. The best way to get a preview of how your teapot will look is to lay the teapot die over the paper. Instant image.
For these cards, I used the new Woven Threads designer series paper to make vintage teapots for a swap. This new paper features the 2019-2021 In Colors and has a lovely vintage appearance, along with some solid textured designs. Since I was making 22 cards, I decided to make two variations of the same card.
The first card
I first chose the sheet of paper with a soft pattern in Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile and Seaside Spray. The other patterns didn’t really appeal to me for a background, so I selected the Terracotta Tile textured sheet and stamped a random pattern using Artisan Textures. The card base is Seaside Spray, as is the ribbon.
The second card
For the second card, I chose the faded pattern in Seaside Spray with a little color in Rococo Rose and Terracotta Tile. Another sheet of paper has a faded design in those two colors and not only looks great with the light blue, but has a great vintage texture for the background. This card has a base card stock 0f Rococo Rose and the same color of ribbon.
And the details
The new 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon has scalloped edges in the 2019-2021 In Colors. It also helps to create my vintage look. I pinched a section with linen thread to add a bow. Another vintage touch is to roughen the edges of the white card stock mat. To do this, scrape the edges with your paper snips.
The greeting comes from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set, which is one of my favorite sets. It has a great variety of birthday greetings. And for a little bit of bling, I added a trio of metallic pearls.
What do you think? Are ready to try a vintage teapot? The new Annual Catalog went live on June 4th and there are several designer series papers you can choose from to create your own card, including Woven Threads. Check them out at my online store.
