Timeless Tulips Meet Parisian Blossoms

January 25, 2020|Posted in: Creativity

While I’ve been playing with the Timeless Tulips stamps, I’ve been trying them with different designer series papers. For this card, I used products from the Parisian Blossoms Suite from the Jan-June 2020 Mini Catalog.

This time, I wanted to try stamping the tulip and adding shading with sponge daubers. For color inspiration I selected this background paper from the Parisian Blossoms specialty designer series paper. It’s Petal Pink in color with a lovely line pattern in Cherry Cobbler. I love this paper, but I also picked it because I would not have put those two colors together.

Using the largest tulip, I stamped it in Petal Pink, then used my sponge dauber, in Cherry Cobbler, to add the darker tone along the bottom of the flower, and a bit up the side. My Cherry Cobbler ink pad may be in need of re-inking because its not very dark, but I love how it turned out.

I had in mind a card design with an oval under the flowers, but neither white nor vanilla looked right and the cherry was too dark. Solution? Another paper from this DSP package. This paper is a soft scroll design in Petal Pink on Whisper White. It gives the oval background just enough color and design without fighting any of the other elements.

The stems are stamped directly on the DSP oval. Then I used the Tulip Builder Punch (get the punch and the Timeless Tulips stamps as a bundle) and added my two flowers.

I used the Layering Ovals dies and cut the scalloped oval in Petal Pink card stock, then lightly sponged the edge, again using the dauber and the Cherry Cobbler ink. The background DSP is also sponged with Cherry Cobbler ink. The finishing touch is this beautiful Petal Pink Metallic-Edge Ribbon.

The Timeless Tulip stamps are surprisingly versatile. From simple and sweet designs, to modern or vintage styles, all it takes is different colors and different papers. Try it with the different Designer Series Papers that you have! (See another vintage-styled card using the tulips with Woven Threads DSP on this Instagram post.)
