The Timeless Baby Bear is Just Too Cute

February 10, 2017|Posted in: Creativity

I may be in love with the Baby Bear. This set immediately caught my eye when I saw it last summer in the new annual catalog. But it took awhile for me to buy it. Then it took awhile for me to use it. But now that I’ve finally made a few cards, I just may be in love. Why? It’s just too cute. I love the photorealism look of the three-step image. It makes him look so real and soft and cuddly.

This card is one I designed for my Monthly Stamp Class. I wanted to do a vintage card, so of course I paired it with the Timeless Texture stamp set. I used paper from the Cupcakes & Carousels designer series paper and added some lace.

I stamped an image from Timeless Texture in Crumb Cake ink on the Crumb Cake card stock (4″ x 5-1/4″) and around the Very Vanilla piece. For class, my stampers could choose the peach/coral paper or the blue/yellow paper. And I like the little bit of lace on this card. I used a bit of Snail Adhesive in the center to hold the lace in place (lace can be hard to attach since the glue goes through it, but the center bit will be covered my the vanilla card stock) then folded it behind the card front to adhere on the back.

Baby Bear is a three-step image but don’t let that scare you. The easiest way to line them up is to start with the most detailed image and stamp it with the darkest color. Next stamp the middle image with the medium color, and then use the least detailed image with the lightest color. This way its easier to see the image already stamped and to line up your stamp with that image.

For this card I used Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake. It’s fun to play with color combos and make different colored bears. You can use three coordinating colors in a light, mid-tone and dark scheme. Or you can use two colors and stamp off one. (When you stamp off, you ink your image, stamp it on scrap paper, then stamp on your card stock. That second impression will be lighter – since you stamped off some ink!)

Are you  in love yet? I think this Baby Bear will be a classic. And even if he’s not, he’s still cute!
