A simple stamping Thank You card made with Forever Ferns by Stampin' Up!

Simple Stamping with Forever Ferns

Today I have a simple stamping card to share, using the Forever Ferns stamp set. At my new catalog open house earlier this summer, one of the Make & Take cards featured this new set and it was a hit. So what better way to say Thank You to my guests than to mail them a Forever Ferns #simplestamping card?

Card by Paula Cannon using Gather Together stamp set and watercolor pencils

A Vintage Card with Watercolor Pencils

My watercolor pencils solved a problem I didn’t even know I had when I started making this card! After I bought the Gather Together stamp set, I knew I wanted to use it with the script image from Very Versailles.  As I started playing with the images, I realized I wanted a translucent color for my leaf. And I wanted to stamp everything for this card and not use a die-cut leaf.

That’s what I had in my head, so that’s what I tried to do. And I think the watercolor pencils created the look I imagined.

Terracotta Tile card using Over the Moon stamp set from Stampin' Up!

The 2019 In Colors: Terracotta Tile

I knew the Terracotta Tile In Color would be one of my favorites as soon as I saw it! Warm tones are my favorites, as are the colors of fall. One of the first few cards I made with these new In Colors was this one, using the Terracotta Tile designer series paper and ribbon.

Rooted in Nature card featuring two colors by Paula Cannon for Vintage and Fresh

How to Balance Two Colors on a Card

Balancing two colors can sometimes be harder than it sounds. Monochromatic is easy and multiple colors give you more options. With two colors, you seldom want a 50/50 balance. Here’s how I balanced the two colors in this card.

Card stamped in two colors using Rooted in Nature set by Stampin' Up

I love the Rooted in Nature stamp set, and I think the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper that goes with it is beautiful. The pattern with the brown leaves is my favorite of the designs. It’s soft, neutral and has a nice vintage feel to it.

TIP: Using the colors from a package of DSP is a simple way to get color inspiration.

That’s one of the reasons I chose Rich Razzleberry to pair with the browns. While there are two purples in the Nature’s Poem DSP package (Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss),  I also had the lovely Rich Razzleberry velvet ribbon, so it was an easy decision as to which purple to use!

Detail of card using Dragonfly Dreams stamp and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits from Stampin ' Up! by Paula Cannon for www.vintageandfresh.com

Dragonfly Dreams Land on a Clear Block

My dragonfly has landed on a clear block. So to speak. I’ve been playing with the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle from the Occasions Catalog. For this card, the little guy ended up landing on a clear block stamped background. I did a Pinterest search for dragonfly to get some color ideas. One image that I saved was a print of three dragonflies, laid out one below the other, similar to a specimen frame. Not only did I like the coloring, I had my design inspiration as well. Yes!
