Playing with Greens

The Forever Greenery suite is definitely one of my favorite suites in this year’s catalog. I really like the Distinktive style of stamps, and the images work so well together and are so versatile. Plus, with the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper it is so easy to play with greens! And I like the color green, so there’s one more reason to love this suite.

For this card I started with the two greens in the DSP strip I chose: Soft Sea Foam and Just Jade.

For this card, I started with the two greens in the DSP strip I chose: Soft Sea Foam and Just Jade. To begin, I stamped an image in each color and cut with the dies to start designing. While I had the general layout in mind, in addition to mixing and matching greens, I was mixing and matching leaves. I stamped another fern image in Shaded Spruce and liked that combo of colors. But not the images! As you can see I ended up using one of the die cuts in Just Jade card stock. For the berries I picked Highland Heather to keep the color scheme soft.

I knew I would hide all those stems with a sentiment and this shape from the Stitched So Sweetly dies works perfectly. I stamped Thanks! (from Many Mates) in Shaded Spruce on Soft Sea Foam card stock.

The card base is Just Jade. To keep the colors in balance, I added a background mat of Soft Sea Foam card stock. The Whisper White card stock is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D folder.

The last step is the ribbon embellishment. I used two small bits from the suite’s Forever Greenery Trim. The gold trim untwists very easily. The vanilla ribbon has a very loose weave, so once you start to pull a short edge thread it will unravel. I put down some adhesive and laid the ribbon and trim strands in place. Then I covered it with my sentiment, popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Playing with colors is basically a matter of keeping balance in the light and dark shades. It’s also a matter of personal preference. So, play with some greens, or blues, or whatever color you like. But play, have fun and be creative!
