Needlepoint Nook for an Embroidery Sampler
April 26, 2019|Posted in: Creativity
I love the Needlepoint Nook suite in the Occasions catalog! Probably because I used to do a lot of embroidery, but also because it has a slightly vintage and slightly fresh look. The Needle & Thread stamp set is also one of Stampin’ Up’s DistINKtive stamps. The images look like real, stitched, embroidery.
One idea I knew I wanted to try was to make a little embroidery hoop sampler. The easy part was using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and the Layering Circle Framelits to make the hoop. Deciding on the images and pattern for the sampler took a few tries. That’s what scrap paper is for!
My colors came from the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper. Each sheet of paper has beautifully photographed embroidered artwork on one side, and a solid color embroidery stitch pattern on the reverse side. I stamped the top row of flowers in Balmy Blue, the butterflies in Berry Burst, the bottom row of flowers in Old Olive and the line stitches, in the sampler and on the card front, are Night of Navy. And do you love those mini buttons? So fun.
Since I wanted the embroidery sampler to be the focal point, I kept the design of the card basic. I do like how the one swirl-stiched image adds to the background and ties it all together. What do you think? Are you ready to try incorporating some embroidery in your stamping with this wonderful suite? If so, be sure to visit my online store and get it now. It will retire with the Occasions catalog.
