Birthday card using Painted Poppies stamp set, designed by Paula Cannon for VintageandFresh.com

A Painted Poppies Birthday Card

Maybe its because the designer series paper is watercolor painting, or maybe its just the stamp set name, Painted Poppies, but I wanted one of my first cards with this set to be done with watercoloring.

First I selected this fun blue-background print from the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper. I wanted a bright, fun card and this paper fits the bill. The poppies in the DSP are colored in Poppy Parade and Flirty Flamingo, so those are the colors I chose for my painting.

Card using Happy Birthday to You stamp set from Stampin' Up! and colored in blue with Stampin' Blends.

Happy Birthday to You in Blue

The new Happy Birthday to You stamp set is so fun to color! Today I have a beautiful card, done up in blue, to share with you.

At first, I thought all those flowers on the cake were a little much and not my style. But I was wrong. The Happy Birthday to You cake stamp is one to use for years to come. You can make a simple card or something fancy, and it’s perfect for all the different coloring techniques.

My inspiration for this card is the sample in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I like the blue flowers on the blue lace background of the sample on page 8. But I don’t have the Stitched Lace die to create that background. (more…)

A frosty cardinal card using Toile Christmas stamp set from Stampin' Up!

A Frosty Cardinal Card from Toile Christmas

I hope you all had a fun holiday celebration. I have one last card using a Holiday Catalog set before it ends. I’m using the Toile Christmas stamp set, which features a beautiful cardinal image. But its not just for Christmas! This card features a frosty cardinal that is a lovely card for any winter occasion, such as thank you or birthdays, or even a get well card.

Card using martini glass stamp from Sip Sip Hooray set with mercury glass acetate.

Don’t Miss the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate

Don’t miss this hidden gem in the Holiday Catalog!  It’s hidden away in the bottom corner of page 33. You get four 12″ x 12″ acetate sheets with a faux mercury glass finish. Two have that mottled look you are familiar with and two have more of a cracked glass finish.

It caught my eye because I have several pieces of faux mercury glass (mostly vases) in my house. I ordered it early but I’ve just recently started playing with it.

This card features it as a simple background and its the easiest way to use it.

Card featuring the reversible stamp set Cup of Christmas from Stampin' Up!

Use Reversible Stamps for More Versatility

The Cup of Christmas stamp set has some great images, but the fun thing about it is that  some of the stamps are reversible. What does that mean and how does it work?

The feature stamps in this set are three mugs: one in polka dots, one in stripes, and one that is an outline. They are the reversible stamps. They are photopolymer, a bit thicker than regular stamps, and you can place each one on your block so that the handle is on either the left of the right. (more…)
