A Fresh Fruit Pear for a Classic Card
April 29, 2017|Posted in: Creativity, Specials
The Fresh Fruit stamp set is on the new Stampin’ Up! retired list.* I am sorry to see it go. It’s cute and fun and fresh. And I’m not sure why, but I think a pear image is a good stamp image. Maybe because it can fit any season or because it can be used in a vintage or a fresh style. I’ve made several cards using this Fresh Fruit pear image and I thought I’d share one of my favorites.
It’s a pretty easy card to make. I started with a card base of our Whisper White Thick card stock. The card front is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Soft Suede card stock. I cut three 1″ x 4-1/2″ strips of Fruit Stand designer series paper and centered them on the card front.
I was thinking of a more natural look, so I used the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon. I cut the length I needed then cut it in half. I glued the two strips on with a gap to show off the versatility of this ribbon.
Fresh Fruit is a two-step stamp set. I began with the pear block in Old Olive ink, after stamping off on scrap paper to lighten the color. Then I stamped the outline image in Old Olive. The leaves are stamped in Peekaboo Peach, with the outline image stamped in Tangerine Tango. I cut the image and the mat using the Layering Ovals Framelits for some curves (and the oval echoes the pear shape). It still needed a little something, though, so Gold Wink of Stella to the rescue! (sadly, the gold is retiring). I added a bit over the outline images for some subtle shimmer.
