The Wild & Sweet Stamp Set is Sweet

The Wild & Sweet stamp set is indeed a sweet set! It had me at the koala bear, and pandas are popular, but … a raccoon? They seem to have a reputation as pesky critters, although I’ve never personally had any run-ins with them. So, unless you have a friend named Rocky, what are you going to do with a raccoon card? And then I colored one for a sample card, and he has such a sweet face!
I’ve made several cards with this new stamp set, and I’ve used Stampin’ Blends, Watercolor Pencils, and watercolor with inks. They all work great, so if you like to color, you may need the Wild & Sweet stamp set.
This trio of cards was designed to show off the sweet faces of the three animals in this set. Each was stamped in StazOn ink on Shimmery White card stock. I colored each one with ink, using my Water Painters. Then, I cut out the face with the Layering Circles dies and cut the scalloped circle background. The card base for each is the color I used to paint, and each green card stock mat matches the green color of the leaves. The green pieces were also embossed using the Fern 3D embossing folder
One of the things I really like about this set is that, for coloring, all the work is done for you! The Stampin’ Up! artist has drawn in all the shading. Basically, I just colored in each animal and each tree, then added a bit of darker shading here and there. So don’t let it fool you – its an easy set to use.
First up is my koala. I colored him with Soft Suede ink, the tree is in Crumb Cake, and the leaves are in Old Olive. For the raccoon, at top, I used Gray Granite and Garden Green inks. Raccoons have brown and black fur, so the greige tone of Gray Granite works perfectly for this guy. The panda just needs a touch of color. I used Smoky Slate for him with Early Espresso for the tree and Granny Apple Green for the leaves. I did change this one up a bit – the card base is Basic Gray because the darker color made the whole card pop.
Tip:
Here’s a short-cut for when you know you are only going to use a portion of an image. After I stamped the image, I selected the size of the circle I wanted to use to cut him out. Then, I used it to position the area I wanted to cut. I used a pencil to draw a soft line along the outside of the die. The cutting edge is on the inside of the die, so this gave me my coloring area. I didn’t have to worry about the pencil line, because it will be cut away. And I didn’t need to color the entire image since I knew I wouldn’t be using it all.
I hope you can now see that the Wild & Sweet stamp set is a sweet one to have. If you are looking for a demonstrator, please let me know, and head over to my online store to take a look at these sweet animals.
