The Quiet Meadow stamp set and Meadow dies are perfectly suited to vintage styled cards and to collage techniques. That’s the reason I bought it! But what happens when it meets Glimmer Paper? This.

Two cards made by Paula Cannon with Quiet Meadows using the Stampin' Up 2022-2024 In Colors Glimmer Paper.

These cards just sort of happened. The 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper is ombre (and beautiful, said the girl who doesn’t normally use a lot of glimmer and glitter). I wanted to see what it looked like as a die cut and I had this stamp set and dies out. Since the flowers are long-stemmed, I thought they would show the ombre effects well. So I cut a few. Then I started playing with them. Then I made this card.

I had cut two different stems from Starry Sky, one in each direction of light-to-dark on the ombre pattern. The Sweet Sorbet flower seemed to show off that difference, so I went with these three stems for my first card. I used the Timeworn Type embossing folder on the Basic White background panel, and edged the two sides in Starry Sky ink. The Basic Gray card stock made the colors pop. (Although not so much in this photo!) To finish, I added a bow of Sweet Sorbet metallic woven ribbon, along with the Love tag from the stamp set.

Since I had one card with two of the new In Colors, I decided to make another card with the other three colors. I picked three stem dies and cut out one each in Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party, and Orchid Oasis. I decided to stick with the three-stems-tied-with-a-bow design, but otherwise decided to step-up this card.

Combining a bit of vintage-style collage with these bright, glimmer flowers seemed like a fun try. First I stamped the typed words image in Orchid Oasis in alternating rows, stamping off to use the second impression each time. Then I added the splatter image in Tahitian Tide, also stamped off. I trimmed the Basic White card front down and edged it in Tahitian Tide ink. I had already decided to use Orchid Oasis as the card base and the ribbon color. To keep it fun and bright, I added a card front layer of Parakeet Party. Finally, I added a few of the small In Color Matte Decorative Dots in shades of Tahitian Tide. I really like the way it turned out!

This was a fun challenge for me, because, as I mentioned, I don’t normally work with a lot of glimmer and sparkle; a little goes a long way for me. These two cards have more than a little sparkle! It’s good to step out of your comfort zone from time to time and try something different. Who knows what I’ll do next with this glimmer paper!

I’ve been having fun making a few sampler cards with the new 2022-2024 In Colors from Stampin’ Up! These colors just make me happy, they are so bright and pretty! And they play well together. For these two cards, I featured the In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP). I like to make a few cards with all five colors together, and this is a great way to do that.

My first card is a great card sketch for using DSP scraps. Although I did cut these at 1″ x 4″ to start. This card is also a good way to introduce the 2022-2024 In Color names. From left to right: Sweet Sorbet, Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party and Starry Sky.

I chose Gray Granite for my card base and also cut a card front at 4″ x 5-1/4″ in the same color. I started by playing around with the strips until I found a color combination and a pattern combination that I liked. Then I cut the ends at different angles and slightly different lengths. After gluing them in place, I wrapped the front piece with the Tahitian Tide baker’s twine.

For the greeting, I used the Biggest Wish stamp set. It’s a set I recommend for everyone’s collection! It has the basic greetings, but in separate words so you can mix and match. You can go big and bold or chose the fun cursive font. I stamped ‘thanks’ in Tahitian Tide and cut the ends at angles. I wanted a simple card, but it still needed some bling, so I added an In Color Matte Decorative Dot in two of the opposing corners, then popped up the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the second card I used a block background with each of the five colors and a variety of the patterns. The four corner blocks measure 1-3/4″ x 1-1/2″ and the center block is 1-1/2″ x 3-3/4″. I considered using small flowers in each of the colors to decorate the card front, but obviously changed my mind. I had stamped a flower and liked the simple, graphic look of the black and white flower.

This round flower is from Color & Contour and three is plenty. I set them at a curve to offset the rectangular blocks. I love these little dots, and I thought putting them in the center with all five colors would be fun. Since the In Color Matte Decorative Dots are ombre, I selected the darkest shade, the lightest and the middle of the five shades. And that’s it – clean and simple and cheery.

What do you think of the 2022-2024 In Colors? I was asked which is my favorite and I don’t know. I can’t decide! I do think Orchid Oasis is absolutely beautiful, but I don’t know that its my favorite. Maybe that’s a good thing, though, and I’ll use them all instead of gravitating to just one or two colors. Comment and let me know if you have a favorite. You can also visit my online store to see all the In Color products.
