Daisy Delight card in Seaside Spray on Tin Tile background

The 2019 In Colors: Seaside Spray

Soft, serene, Seaside Spray. When I first saw the new In Colors, I thought this pale blue was light and drab. Then I used it, just once, and fell in love. Now I think it’s light and beautiful! It pairs well with light colors, as in today’s card, but works with darker colors, too.

Seaside Spray card featuring two daisies

I thought some light blue daisies in Seaside Spray would be pretty, so I got out my Daisy Delight stamp set and Daisy punch. Then I played around with some design ideas and choose this look. I really wanted to use Soft Sea Foam with the Seaside Spray. They look so nice together.

The 2019 In Colors: Rococo Rose

The new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog has been out about a month now and I want to start showcasing the new 2019 In Colors. Today’s card features Rococo Rose. Its a soft, subtle, dusty color of pink. I think it has a nice vintage appeal. I’m not a pink girl but its growing on me!

For my card, I started with a Gray Granite card base and a Rococo Rose sheet of designer series paper from the 2019-2021 In Color 6 x 6 pack. I choose the script pattern for a soft, feminine background.

Two vintage teapot cards by Paula Cannon using Tea Together stamp set and Tea Time dies.

Two Vintage Teapot Cards

It’s easy to get the look of a vintage teapot using the right designer series paper and the Tea Together stamp set and Tea Time dies. This teapot is such a fun image and you can get so many looks when you use designer series paper. Of course, you can stamp and color the teapot, but we’ll save that for another post.

The paper you select will have a big impact on the look of the teapot. Bright colors will be bold, whereas Subtles colors will be more demur. Fine prints can be dainty. You get the idea. The best way to get a preview of how your teapot will look is to lay the teapot die over the paper. Instant image.

For these cards, I used the new Woven Threads designer series paper to make vintage teapots for a swap. This new paper features the 2019-2021 In Colors and has a lovely vintage appearance, along with some solid textured designs. Since I was making 22 cards, I decided to make two variations of the same card.

Card in all purples featuring Country Floral embossing folder by Stampin' Up!

How to Make Monochromatic Cards Interesting

Monochromatic, or one-color, cards don’t have to be dull or boring. In fact, with some simple touches they can be quite interesting. The first key is to use two or three shades of the same color, to bring in some variety. Then add a few elements to create design interest.

Today’s card has a monochromatic palette made with two shades of purple: the lighter shade is Highland Heather, and the darker is Gorgeous Grape. Now, this card is beautiful simply because I used the Country Floral embossing folder, but it will still be pretty with a different background!
