New In Colors with Butterfly Brilliance

Here’s another card to show off the new In Colors, this time with one of my favorites, the Butterfly Brilliance stamp and the Brilliant Wings dies. Because I wanted to use my new Stampin’ Blends in the 2022-2024 In Colors, the butterflies seemed like a good way to use them all at once.
Tip:
A while back I had stamped several quarter-pages of Basic White cardstock with the butterflies full stamp and cut them out so they would be ready to go. If you aren’t familiar with the Butterfly Brilliance stamp, it’s a background stamp with six butterfly images in various sizes and designs. The dies include a single die with the six shapes. You can ink and stamp a single butterfly and fit it under the die in the right place, however stamping a bunch and having them ready to color has proven to be very helpful.
I picked three butterflies so that I could get all the colors in. For the card design, I thought I might as well use another of my favorite products, the Tailor Made Tags dies. And why not add a background with my new Fern 3D embossing folder? (Except I forgot to spritz it with water so the impression is fairly flat.) By the way, we used this folder at a recent class and one of my customers shared that she had learned this little tip: run the folder back and forth three times through your die-cut machine. And wow, does that make a deep impression!
And now back to the card. I gave the colors a little thought, but really, I just started playing. I did throw out one or two before I settled on these three. The top butterfly is colored in Parakeet Party and Starry Sky. The middle one is Tahitian Tide with Sweet Sorbet and Starry Sky. The bottom butterfly is Orchid Oasis with Sweet Sorbet.
To finish, I added little Starry Sky tag circles and a twine bow in the same color to each tag. Everything was glued in place, with the butterflies popped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stampin’ Blends come in pairs for each color available: a light and a dark. That makes it easy to blend the colors, as you can see in the Parakeet Party butterfly. It also lets you go two-tone, as with the Tahitian Tide butterfly. So, if you like Blends and you like the new In Colors, you will want to get all five colors. They are beautiful. (Just like the Butterfly Brilliance stamp!)
Do you like Stampin’ Blends? What’s your favorite method for coloring?
