More Watercolor Fun with Gather Together

Sometimes I think I could spend days playing with watercolor and my Gather Together stamp set. Not only are the leaves fun to color, but the pumpkins are, too! Especially if you go beyond orange and venture into other gourd colors.
The pumpkins on this card are all orange, though. Colored with Pumpkin Pie, naturally. Ah, but the leaves. I’ve had so much fun playing with different ink colors and my trusty aqua painter. These leaves started with a little Crushed Curry and Old Olive, then a tiny bit of Pumpkin Pie, but I wanted them to be more red and I tried Merry Merlot. I like the result, and the orange of the pumpkin plays well with it.
I had a vague thought of two or three leaves
with some pumpkins on top; nothing elaborate. After searching through my Designer Series Paper stock, I picked this green stripe paper from the Come Sail Away DSP pack. Merry Merlot card stock works perfectly for the card base.
Here’s my tip of the day: It’s easy to buy a package of DSP that’s designed to go with a certain stamp set and get boxed into using it just for that. Try to ignore the title and just look through your papers for the colors or patterns you need for a design.
The Gather Together set has several sentiments included. I picked this one because its a nice sentiment, but also because I like the font. It works well if you want to fussy-cut around the entire shape.
It’s the time of the year when you may have already moved on to Christmas stamping, but don’t overlook the flexibility of Gather Together – leaves can be green for spring cards, and while pumpkins are autumnal, they can used for Halloween specific projects, too.
