Painted Glass birthday card with Share What You Love paper and doily from Stampin' Up!

A Painted Glass Birthday

May 19, 2019|Posted in: Creativity

Today I have a simple birthday card featuring the Painted Glass stamp set. I might add that it features the beautiful Love What You Do designer series paper, but only because this rose pattern is my favorite from this package.

I took my color cue from the designer series paper. The card base is Rich Razzleberry and the mat for the paper is Old Olive. To begin, I stamped the circle pattern from Painted Glass on a small piece of Whisper White card stock using Old Olive ink, then over-stamped the birthday greeting with  Memento Black ink. Next, I cut out the image with Layering Circles dies, and cut a small scallop border using Rich Razzleberry.

For the rose, I stamped the image on white card stock using Memento Black ink. I colored it with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. To add the highlights, I used the color lifter pen. Using the  Stained Glass dies, I cut out the single  rose. I only added one rose so as not to compete with all the roses in the paper. With a different background paper I might want to have two or three roses.

To assemble, I added one of our Pearlized Doilies, then centered the birthday circle on top. I popped up the rose and that’s it – a simple but elegant Painted Glass birthday card.

The Painted Glass stamp set is fun to color, but as you can see, the circle pattern looks fine without color. All of the sentiments in this set would fit over it, too. That makes this card design versatile for any occasion, not just birthdays. This set is carrying over into the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog and I encourage you to take a new look at it.
